About
Hi. I’m Jacqui, the creator of something for sunday.
In general, do you like Sundays, would you say? Do you two get along, more or less? For as long as I can remember, I’ve been fickle with the day. And much like a Sunday, my experience with writing has been a swirl of conflicting emotions: lonely, maddening, comfortable, and elating, at times all in one sitting. When I started this blog, I had a niche of women in mind. My mom died when I was young, and I wanted to write for other girls and women about my experiences growing up and as an adult without her. It was, in a word, therapeutic. And then, I left for South America, and the blog served strictly as a travel diary, a way for family and friends to see what I was up to. Since then, it’s morphed into a collection of food, photos, travel, music, discovery, anything I find that I like and want to share.
I spent four years in New York, and the city unquestionably remains my favorite in the world (though Buenos Aires is a very close second. Sometimes I think all a person needs in life is a Fernet and Coke and a good empanada). My roots are in Minneapolis. I’m proud to be from the Midwest, and from a state with incredible radio and home to one of the best fairs in the country. If you’ve never had a cheese curd, I’d wholeheartedly recommend you add it to your bucket list. And I’d love to hear about it after.
I like to eat with friends in our own kitchens and strangers in new cities.
I post (mostly) on Sundays.
Thanks so much for visiting.
